We help you generate real value from business data.
Build a Data-Driven Strategy Businesses have huge amounts of data from many sources – ERP, CRM, Manufacturing, Forecast Spreadsheets, R&D and Logistics systems, to name a few. Firms that have data silos or disparate data structures struggle to holistically utilize their different data assets to take full advantage of their collective commercial value. Business Artists® will create a strategy that enables you to leverage all types of data to gain valuable business insights.
Leverage Data for Competitive Advantage All companies – large or small have access to data that can be exploited to win in the marketplace. Our customers use analytics to address and prevent business pain points. They know that best of breed companies use analytics for business critical functions like production forecasting, cost modeling and sentiment analysis.Analytics methods are universal tools applicable to any industry or function. Business performance improvements and competitive advantage are achieved from building analytics models that allow you to predict, optimize and proactively alter outcomes.Business Artists®ensures that the usefulness and relevance of analytic models are maintained though continuous model maintenance, further extending value over time. And, we specialize in open source solutions like Hadoop, R and Python, so our customers invest in valuable information, not expensive tools.
Develop a Strategy and Architecture to Harness Data Identifying your business priorities and objectives is the first step in developing an integrated approach to data sourcing, model building, and organizational transformation. In addition, Business Artists® will help you obtain high value from unstructured (qualitative) data as well as structured (quantitative) data. Businesses also need to consider the potential of external and new sources of data. For example, social media generates loads of nontraditional, unstructured data in the form of conversations, photos, and video. Add to that the streams of data flowing in from sensors, monitored processes, and external sources ranging from local demographics to geographic locations to weather forecasts. What decisions could you make if you had all the information you need in the format you need it?Business Artists® experienced data science consultants can help you develop your road map to winning with data-centricity.
Build Models that Predict and Optimize Business Outcomes Effective approaches to building predictive business models start with identifying a business opportunity and determining how the models can improve performance. Generally, companies have the data they need to tackle business problems, but it’s often not in a format managers can use to make key decisions. Business Artists® helps you utilize all your data. For the long-term, a dynamic data architecture strategy is the answer. Short-term, data 'cleaning' exercise tasks are necessary. From there your analytics model is built and ported to a visualization tool. This dashboard-like application (the “app”) deliverable is designed to be a user-friendly interface for decision makers to get their insights intuitively without being analytics or data science experts. Business Artists® delivers data science in a format that business people can use.
What is analytics? Analytics is the art and science of discovering insightful relationships amongst data. The insights can be used to control or predict outcomes of processes or systems of any type based on what has happened in the past. When the data is simple, we can figure out causes and effects intuitively. However, in real world situations with numerous potential influences on an outcome, such relationships or correlations are less obvious or easy to determine. This is when analytics becomes useful.
What can analytics do for your business? It is a misconception that analytics is only meant for large corporations with deep pockets. Analytics can be used at various levels and to varying degrees to create value and competitive advantage. If you have a knowledge gap with respect to a process or system, then analytics may very well be able to help. You may want to know what factors are the biggest contributors to your operating cost; or which customers are most likely to buy from you again. Closing such gaps will enable the making of better decisions, like which overheads to prioritize on controlling or which customer to cultivate better relationships with. All this to the end of a more favorable outcome at the top line, bottom line, or both. Even if you don’t have a specific pain point to address, yet you are collecting data in various functions or departments, you may be able to find opportunities to exploit after seeing how all that data is connected. The analytics process First, you have to extract and ‘clean’ your data. This can be as simple as compiling or consolidating some MS Excel files or as complex as automating access to a data warehouse with open source tools like Hadoop. ‘Cleaning’ means to ensure there are no formatting errors or accounting for missing elements. The data is run through an analytics tool or process that is chosen based upon the objective or intent of the work done. For a basic BI application, the outcome can be a set of insights such as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) shown on a dashboard. The advantage of this is that you can monitor status in real time as your measured data updates as well as track how your KPIs are changing. However, you could go further to build a model, based on your data’s history and into which you can put hypothetical conditions to observe possible KPI outcomes. Otherwise, you can extrapolate current conditions based on trends to see where your KPIs are headed. The great advantage of this, is that with newer more recent data, the model may be updated, so it never has to become obsolete. [BUTTON] Read About the 5-Step Process - great blog post link here
